A Brief History of LGBT Pride Month
Stonewall Uprising:

In June 1969, the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City, was raided by police. Instead of accepting harassment, the patrons fought back, sparking days of protests known as the Stonewall Uprising.

First Pride Parade:

The following year, on June 28, 1970, the first Gay Pride parades took place in multiple U.S. cities to commemorate the Stonewall events and advocate for LGBT rights.

Growth & International Spread:

Over time, Pride celebrations expanded globally, with events held worldwide to raise visibility, demand equality, and celebrate the LGBT community.

Official Recognition:

In 1999, President Bill Clinton declared June as LGBT Pride Month, recognizing the month as an occasion to honor LGBT contributions, promote acceptance, and advocate for equal rights.

Month-Long Celebration:

Pride Month evolved from a single day to a month-long series of activities, including parades, rallies, parties, workshops, and cultural events, allowing the community to express themselves and educate others.
